5 pictures of an incredible meteor explosion captured by NASA astronaut

NASA astronaut Matthew Dominick, aboard the International Space Station, captured a stunning video of a meteor entering Earth's atmosphere.

The meteor exploded in a bright flash over North Africa, showcasing an incredible natural phenomenon.

This rare event, known as a bolide, highlights the unique perspective astronauts have while orbiting Earth.

It serves as a remarkable example of how space-based observation can capture extraordinary moments in our planet’s atmosphere.

These images adds to the growing collection of breathtaking imagery shared by the ISS crew.

The event took place on 2 September 2024 at 20:12 GMT and was captured by Dominick.

The video shows the meteor streaking rapidly through Earth's atmosphere before exploding into a brilliant green flash, illuminating the night sky over North Africa.

This type of meteor, known as a bolide, is exceptionally bright and visible over large areas due to the intensity of its explosion upon entering the atmosphere.

Dominick shared the footage on social media, slowing it down to one frame per second to enhance the visibility of the explosion’s details.

The adjustment allowed viewers to clearly see the striking moment the meteor burst into a brilliant flash.
