ISL 2024-25: FC Goa looks to sustain away form when it visits NorthEast United
Unbeaten in its last seven games on the road, FC Goa will seek to sustain its fortunes away from home when it takes on NorthEast United FC at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on Tuesday.
The home side on the other hand is desperate to turn the script, having secured just nine points from a possible 21 in its last seven home outings.
But an uptick in its last four league outings (two wins and two draws) will hold the Highlanders in good stead who would hope for Alaaeddine Ajaraie to continue his goal-scoring run. The Moroccan has netted 15 times this season.
“FC Goa are a very good team. It will be a very difficult and tactical match. We will need to have a lot of patience,” said NorthEast United assistant coach Naushad Moosa.
The Gaurs, currently fourth in the standings, will be without the services of midfielder Borja Herrera, who was sent off in the side’s 1-1 draw against Odisha FC. Armando Sadiku found the net in that match to take his season tally to nine goals. The Albanian will be crucial for the visitor on Tuesday too.
“After the break, it has been difficult for teams to get points. We cannot be satisfied by our position, but we have won more points (in the time period),” said FC Goa head coach Manolo Marquez.
