Manchester United preparing new bid for Lecce star Patrick Dorgu
Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu.
The Red Devils submitted an initial €27 million bid for the 20-year-old, but that was turned down by the Italian outfit.
However, journalist Fabrizio Romano reports United are preparing a new offer for Dorgu.
Lecce are said to be demanding around €40m, but their valuation is unlikely to be met by the English giants.
The Denmark international has emerged as one of the top talents in recent years.
Dorgu has been earning rave reviews with his performances in the Serie A. He has started all 20 matches in the Italian top-flight, registering three goals and an assist in the process.
United have yet to add a new player in the winter window, but they are in the market for a new left wing-back.
To comply with the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), they are willing to offload several players.
Antony is set to join Real Betis on loan, while Marcus Rashford has also been linked with a temporary departure.
Alejandro Garnacho could end up leaving Old Trafford as well, amid huge interest from Napoli and Chelsea.
Torrid start for Ruben Amorim
Manager Ruben Amorim has endured a difficult start at United after taking over from Erik ten Hag in November.
Just three Premier League wins in 11 matches under the Portuguese boss means the Red Devils are currently languishing in 13th place in the table.
Sunday’s 3-1 loss at Brighton & Hove Albion prompted Amorim to claim his United team may be the worst in the club’s history.
The 39-year-old now regrets making that remark as he prepares for Thursday’s Europa League game to Rangers at Old Trafford.
Man Utd will then travel to West London to take on Fulham, which football fans can watch through Premier League streams.
