Big blow for KKR ahead of IPL 2025: Umran Malik injured, Chetan Sakariya steps in

In a major setback for Kolkata Knight Riders, tearaway pacer Umran Malik has been ruled out of IPL 2025 due to injury. He will be replaced by left-arm seamer Chetan Sakariya.
The 25-year-old Malik became an overnight sensation with his blistering pace, exciting cricket fans. However, he has not played a competitive match since IPL 2024, where he made just one appearance for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, Sakariya is also making a comeback from injury, last playing a competitive match for Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy in February 2024.
Sakariya, who has represented India in one ODI and two T20Is, has featured in 19 IPL matches, claiming 20 wickets. He joined KKR for Rs 75 lakh.

He was initially set to play in the Duleep Trophy at the start of the 2024-25 domestic season but was withdrawn after contracting dengue. Later, he suffered a hip fracture, further delaying his return.
