How to Stay Safe from H1N1

The sharp rise of flu (H1N1) cases that has taken place in the nation’s capital in recent weeks has both the public and health specialists alarmed. Here are some safety measures to keep in mind.

The annual flu shot, which offers protection against H1N1, is the most effective method of preventing H1N1.

Hands should be frequently washed with soap and water or an alcohol-based sanitiser, particularly after coming into contact with public surfaces.

Avoid touching your face since the virus spreads when you touch your mouth, nose, or eyes after coming into contact with contaminated surfaces.

Wearing a high-quality mask (N95 or higher) reduces your chances of inhaling contaminated droplets in crowded or poorly ventilated environments.

When you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your elbow, and make sure to properly dispose of tissues.

Use disinfectants to clean high-touch surfaces like keyboards, phone screens, and doorknobs regularly.

Drink a lot of water to keep your respiratory system healthy.
